Manchester United assistant Charlotte Healy joins Bristol City
Manchester United have confirmed the departure of Charlotte Healy, as the assistant coach takes on a new full time managerial role with Bristol City in the Championship.
Charlotte Healy spent five years with Manchester United as an assistant to Casey Stoney and Marc Skinner, with the latter and current boss taking charge of the women’s team in 2021.
Before she was appointed as an assistant coach of the first team in 2021 Healy took charge of the under-21 side in 2019 for a brief two year spell.
During her time in Manchester, Healy helped United to win their first major trophy, with the Red Devils crowned FA Cup champions in 2023/24.
United also made it all the way to the FA Cup final last season but they fell at the final hurdle with Chelsea once again securing the honours.
Healy now moves on to her biggest managerial role yet, with the vastly experienced coach taking over her first full time management role for Bristol City.
Speaking in an interview following her appointment, Healy said: “I’m really excited to be here at such a big club with a rich history in the women’s game. I’m delighted and can’t wait to get going.
“Providing opportunities for young players is really important – it’s something I value and love doing. I love seeing players progress into the first team and I’m excited to be able to provide that opportunity to players in our pathway.”
Bristol City currently play in the second tier of English football but with more chances of promotion this season following the league expansion, there is plenty of hope surrounding the new-look team.
Healy has continued to gain experience during the summer as she joined the Republic of Ireland in a temporary position, with the team preparing for two friendly matches against the USA.
