Brentford has been included in a new report that maps environmental sustainability efforts from all 20 Premier League clubs.

Fans can view the report for a comprehensive update on the work that Brentford is doing to protect and enhance the environment.

The report, published by Sport Positive, maps environmental sustainability efforts across 13 categories. This includes operational areas such as energy, transport, waste, water, single-use plastic and food and biodiversity, as well as strategic areas including commitments, policy and reporting, communications, education, procurement and sponsorship.

Brentford has an environmental sustainability strategy in place across five pillars: governance, climate carbon, waste and circularity, nature and biodiversity and engagement. Our sustainable activity that is highlighted in the report includes:

  • One of six Premier League clubs that have clean energy generation at our stadium and training ground
  • One of seven clubs that have a sustainable transport policy
  • The only Premier League club with a kit rollover initiative, in place since 2021, to reduce the number kits produce and consequently reduce the use of materials and carbon emissions generated through manufacture and distribution
  • Having low carbon food options available on the concourse on matchdays and across all other sites.

The report highlights trends and progress from the Premier League clubs, as well as areas where more efforts are needed.

While there is much work still to do, progress from clubs has dramatically improved in the five years since Sport Positive Leagues started collating this information in 2019.

James Beale, sustainability manager, said: “Our latest fan survey tells us that sustainability is important to our supporters, and we’re pleased to see the report shows that we’re making progress on implementing our strategy.

“We want Brentford FC to operate in a sustainable way and to use our platform to make a positive impact.

"We’ve already signed up to the Premier League commitment on sustainability and we look forward to working our fans and other clubs to drive further change.”
