Brentford have completed the club-record acquisition of Burkina Faso winger Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth.
The 23-year-old joins the Bees on a five-year contract with the option of an additional 12 months in a deal worth up to £42.5 million including add-ons.
Ouattara’s arrival is largely to fill the void about to be left by Yoane Wissa’s impending departure, with Newcastle United now expected to finalise a move for him.
Known for his pace, energy levels and industry, Ouattara will bring much-needed dynamism to Brentford’s attacking options.
His ability to operate on either wing or even as a false nine fits offers a variety of options to manager Keith Andrews.
“I am very happy to be here,” Ouattara said in his first interview as a Brentford player. “It is a good day today for me and my family and my agent.
“I want to do my best for the club and for everyone. I want to keep pushing to play well and have a good season.”
Ouattara bagged nine goals and four assists in 37 games across all competitions last season, helping Bournemouth secure a ninth-place finish.
He will watch his new teammates when they open their Premier League campaign with a clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.
Ouattara will be poised to make his debut against Aston Villa on August 23, after which a League Cup clash against former employers Bournemouth lies in wait.
