Often placed in the position of explaining his disappointment with the state of Borussia Dortmund, German football lovers were pleased to watch Julian Brandt receive the opportunity to conduct a pleasant post-match interview on Saturday afternoon.
The 28-year-old newly recalled German international had to comment on the BVB's horrible away form just prior to the international break. This time, Brandt got a chance to reflect on another fine home win.
"I know that since I've been here, it's definitely different playing at home than playing away," Brandt told the Sky mics, "We did get some luck with Gregor [Kobel's] saves and the crossbar, but it was a very solid match."
Regarding his wondrous free-kick goal that gave Dortmund the 3-0 lead, Brandt kept it similarly modest. Brandt may not have featured much under Bundestrainer Julian Nagelsmann during the most recent international break, but did make the most of his opportunity to sharpen his dead-ball takes on the training pitch.
"I was very happy with a nice goal," Brandt said, "Thankfully, there was the opportunity to take a few free kicks with six or seven players in the national team. We have very good free-kick takers in our country.”
