Leeds United and Crysencio Summerville are waiting to see whether they are promoted through the play-offs before any decision is taken on his future, according to Ben Jacobs who provided this update to Give Me Sport.

The 22-year-old has arguably been the Whites' best player during the 2023/24 campaign.

Archie Gray may have impressed during his first full season in senior football, but without Summerville, Leeds wouldn't be in third place and have such a good chance of securing promotion still.

He may not have been able to guide the Whites to automatic promotion, but his contributions in the play-offs could be crucial, with Daniel Farke's side set to face a very tough couple of games against Norwich City before their potential final at Wembley.

Whether they are promoted or not will probably determine who they are able to keep and who is sold this summer, with Summerville surely in contention to depart this summer if the West Yorkshire side falls short.

Willy Gnonto and Gray are two other players who are likely to be heavily linked with a move away if the Whites fail to win the play-offs - and there's a chance they won't with Norwich, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion all likely to put up a real fight.

Latest update on Crysencio Summerville's Leeds United future

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool have retained their interest in the Dutchman, and Jacobs has provided more details regarding how things stand for the winger.

The journalist told Give Me Sport: "Crysencio Summerville is a target (for Liverpool).

"Of course, from Leeds' position and from his position, both the club and the player are simply waiting to see whether Leeds go up.

"If Leeds don't go up, then they're going to be braced for offers for Summerville, who's had a magnificent season. Of course, there will be interest and Liverpool are one of the clubs looking at Summerville.

"If Leeds get promoted, let's see what the player thinks and obviously Leeds will be in a much stronger position to negotiate."

Crysencio Summerville should carefully consider Leeds United future

The Dutchman has been winning plenty of game time at Elland Road this season, so moving on in the summer would be a risk.

Thriving under Daniel Farke, it would arguably make sense for the young winger to stay put for now until he's guaranteed regular starts for another club.

If the Whites are promoted, that will give Summerville an easy decision to make.

He will probably be given the chance to start every week again and that game time at the top level would surely be enough to keep him at Elland Road for next season.

But if Leeds fall short of promotion, it will give the Dutchman a big decision to make.

His future may be out of his hands at this point, with the player still under contract at Elland Road for another couple of years, but there's a chance Leeds could accept an offer this summer and the 22-year-old will then need to decide whether to go or not.
