'Don't write off Sonny' - Postecoglou backs Spurs' captain
Bournemouth leapfrogged Tottenham in the Premier League table as the Cherries claimed another home scalp and Ange Postecoglou’s side suffered their sixth defeat of the season.
Dean Huijsen’s free header from an early corner gave Bournemouth the lead and Andoni Iraola’s team were more than deserving of their victory, which adds to wins over Arsenal and Manchester City this season. The hosts wasted several chances to add to the scoreline.
By contrast, Spurs barely troubled Bournemouth’s goal and defeat means Postecoglou’s side are winless in the three games since beating Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad, as their inconsistent campaign continued.
Tottenham could have gone 5th with a win but instead it is Bournemouth who climb to 9th in the table, ahead of Spurs in 10th. Spurs visit high-flying Chelsea on Sunday while Bournemouth go to Ipswich.

Ange Postecoglou has spoken to BBC Sport. He says Tottenham were “not good enough” and said his team make “things difficult for ourseleves”.
“We started well and conceded a really poor goal. It's a difficult place to come when giving the opposition the opportunity to play in the manner they want.
"It's disappointing. It's something we've done consistently and we always pay the price for it.
"We started the second half with more conviction. Always be a tough game here. Don't want to give the opposition a leg up. We've done that in other games this year and paid the price.
"It comes down to us as a collective being a lot more determined to control a game of football and not let the opposition take control."

Dean Huijsen, speaking to Prime Video: “I’m so happy to score my first goal, a special memory. How do you say it in English, a goosebumps moment? Definitely. As a team we all worked hard to get this win. What’s possible this season? First we have to avoid relegation but I think we have a little bit more in us. Maybe we can target a Conference League place.”
On his goal, which came from a corner: “It’s all from the coach. We’ve scored a few set-piece goals from him. It was my job to finish it and I did.”
