The Black and Yellows will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-3 draw against FC St. Pauli in their season opener, after throwing away a two-goal lead in the final stages. There could be a first home start for new signing Jobe Bellingham after his cameo last time out.

Bellingham could be handed his first start at the Signal Iduna Park following his Bundesliga debut. The younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has impressed during pre-season and offers creativity in the final third that BVB have been missing.

Yan Couto is set to retain his place at right-wing back after recovering from the horror tackle he suffered against Rot-Weiss Essen in the DFB-Pokal. The Brazilian defender was feared to be facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines but made a remarkable recovery to feature in the season opener.

Nico Schlotterbeck remains out with a meniscus injury picked up in April and is not expected to return until mid-October. Niklas Süle is also sidelined with a calf injury sustained during pre-season. Emre Can continues to be unavailable due to an adductor problem.

Julian Brandt could return to the first team as well after coming on as a sub and scoring against St. Pauli.

It will be interesting to see who will start in place of Filippo Mane who was shown a red card for his foul which led to a penalty for St. Pauli. Yannick Lührs, who was the only centre-back on the bench for Dortmund, might start, but Niko Kovac might play Julian Ryerson or even Marcel Sabitzer in the CB as well.
