Charlton Athletic and Bristol Rovers are set to miss out on attacking target Kion Etete as he is poised to join Bolton Wanderers on loan.
Cardiff City signed the 23-year-old centre forward from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2022 and he has featured 63 times for them so far.
The ongoing campaign for Etete has been marred by injury and he has appeared only once on the bench for Cardiff City in the league.
He has admirers in League One, where Bristol Rovers, Charlton and Bolton are keen on him.
Cardiff recently signed striker Yousef Salech and Bluebirds boss Omer Riza is willing to let the forward leave in the ongoing window.
Bolton Wanderers have been in negotiations with Cardiff City for the signature of the Charlton and Bristol Rovers target.
And, according to Darren Witcoop, Bolton are set to beat their League One rivals Charlton and Bristol Rovers to sign Etete.
Etete’s contract is set to expire in the summer and Bolton, who are in the race for promotion, could benefit from his talents.
It remains to be seen whether there will be any last-minute effort from the Addicks and Bristol Rovers to hijack Etete’s move to Bolton.
