It looks like it’s been a bit of a legends day at Chelsea this week with a bunch of them getting the Blues kit on again to play a game.
The exact details of what the game was all about is unclear, but former Chelsea assistant head coach Jody Morris has posted on Instagram a picture of himself and a load of other Blues legends wearing the new Chelsea kit after playing a game that looks like it was part of the John Terry Foundation.
In the photo, which you can see further below, it features John Terry, Frank Lampard, Gianfranco Zola, Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, Morris, Carlo Cudicini, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gary Cahill, Joe Cole, Roberto Di Matteo and more.
What a class Chelsea throwback this is and I guarantee you that this starting Xl would still do a job in the Premier League today!
This is great to see and a game that I think many of us would have loved to have watched, whoever they might of been playing against. I wonder if they took on a current Chelsea Xl as a bit of fun or something? Although I have not yet heard anything on that.
Morris says, ‘good kick around with these legends yesterday’ which would have been Monday this week.
Just to be able to watch the likes of Terry and Lampard in the same team again would be incredible, and I bet neither of those two have really lost it. I know Cahill hasn’t lost it as I watched him play at Soccer Aid in the summer, and he was still absolutely fantastic and could genuinely be playing for a Premier League team right now at the age of just 38. Perhaps he retired too soon? I think so.
