Journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Blackpool are looking to make the loan signing of goalkeeper Harry Tyrer permanent this summer.

Nixon reports that the Everton goalkeeper "would jump at a return" to Bloomfield Road this summer were the clubs able to agree a transfer fee.

Tyrer made 38 appearances for Blackpool during the 2024/25 season, conceding 42 goals and keeping twelve clean sheets. His performances have evidently impressed veteran manager Steve Bruce, if the club wants to make his transfer permanent this summer.

Harry Tyrer has proved himself at every level so far - there could be more improvement to come if Blackpool move is sealed

As a product of the academy at Everton, Harry Tyrer was in a uniquely difficult position if he wanted to get an opportunity in the first team at his parent club, with their first-choice goalkeeper being England's Jordan Pickford.

Having signed for the club at just 7 years old, he signed his first professional contract at Goodison Park in 2020. Tyrer has since made five appearances for the Toffees, all of which came in the EFL Trophy.

But his career trajectory has been upward as a result of the loan system. He was first sent out on a season-long loan to National League North club Chester for the 2022/23 season. They finished third in the table and were beaten in the play-offs

The following season, Tyrer was sent to play at a higher level the following season at Chesterfield. The Spireites won the National League title with Tyrer keeping goal, and his third season on loan saw him step up another two divisions, to League One with Blackpool. He signed a contract extension with Everton in the summer of 2024.

Tyrer has been a success at every level at which he's played, and has seamlessly moved up from the semi-professional game to the professional game. If he can continue that trajectory at Bloomfield Road at still only 23 years of age, Blackpool could prove to be another big step towards a highly successful professional career for the young stopper.
