Manchester City have been linked with yet another proposal from Turkey with regards to one of their primary stars in midfield, according to new reports.

The Blues have already parted ways with Kevin De Bruyne as the Belgian approached 34 and the end of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, with the midfielder completing a two-year transfer to Napoli this week.

De Bruyne was keen on staying on and extending his 10-year spell in Manchester but the club have acted ruthlessly to begin what has already been a busy summer, making four new additions in the space of a week ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki have bolstered Pep Guardiola’s midfield in time for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup campaign, with Manchester City facing Wydad AC in their opening group-stage fixture next week.

City struggled for legs, personnel and creativity across their midfield over the course of the recent season and age has certainly been a factor in the squad’s inevitable drop-off after years of unparalleled success on the domestic front.

Phil Foden has not been himself on the pitch since he was voted the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for leading Manchester City to a fourth successive Premier League title in the 2023-24 campaign, admitting to mental and physical struggles catching up with him.

Bernardo Silva has also been the subject of speculation as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal at the Etihad Stadium, with no contract renewal talks understood to be on the agenda so far.

The 30-year-old has been an instrumental member of Guardiola’s squad since arriving for £43 million from AS Monaco in 2017 but after eight seasons in Manchester, Silva could push for a long-desired transfer closer to his homeland amid interest from Benfica.

According to the information of Turkish media outlet Sabah, Galatasaray are set to continue their contact over a potential deal for Silva this summer, with the player wanting to leave the club and Etihad officials due to say ‘OK’ to a low-cost fee.

The report claims that Silva himself is also positive about Galatasaray’s proposal and, having not yet considered high-value offers from Saudi Arabia, the Portugal international wants to continue his career in Europe.

From the side of Galatasaray, it is reported that the Turkish giants will take ‘concrete steps’ in the chase of Bernardo Silva by the end of June. Ilkay Gundogan is also another Manchester City who has been linked with Galatasaray.

Gundogan is expecting to stay on at the Etihad Stadium next season after activating a clause in his Manchester City contract in his first season back from Barcelona, whom he joined after captaining City to a treble in 2023 and left last summer to mark a sensational return to Manchester.
