Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva expects Arsenal to challenge them for major silverware next term after they missed out on the Premier League title for the second season running.

The Gunners finished the season two points behind Pep Guardiola’s side despite an impressive campaign having finished five points behind them in 2022-23.

Arsenal will look to go one better next term, and Silva believes manager Mikel Arteta and his young squad will be hungry to win trophies.

“For sure, I know their manager very well because he was here with us,” the Portuguese replied when asked if he thinks Arsenal will keep Man City on their toes next term.

“I know how demanding and how intelligent he is. If you look at their squad, they are so young, and for sure they are very hungry to go after some titles. So, no doubt about that.”

Arsenal were gutted to lose out to Man City in another close title race, and they have vowed to return stronger next season.

However, Arsenal must bolster their squad if they are to mount a stronger title challenge, and landing a new attacker capable of delivering goals and assists would help.

Bukayo Saka (16), Kai Havertz (13) and Leandro Trossard (12) notched double digits in league goals while Martin Odegaard weighed in with ten assists, but the Gunners came up short.

Arsenal must land a proven number nine that can improve their fortunes in the final third if they want to improve their chances of winning the Premier League title next term.
