Jude Bellingham talked through the process that led to his goal in Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Atalanta in Bergamo in the Champions League on Tuesday night, and also commented on Gian Piero Gsasperini’s famous man-to-man marking systems, the Gerwiss Stadium atmosphere and his partnership with Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr.
Bellingham scored Madrid’s third goal of the night, following earlier goals from Mbappe, Charles De Ketelaere and Vinicius Jr. Ademola Lookman clawed one back for Atalanta with 25 minutes to go.
Talking to TNT Sports after full-time, the England international said that Madrid were expecting a tough test against Atalanta for a number of different reasons.
“We knew coming in how difficult it would be with their style of play and the atmosphere in the stadium, so it was important that we got over the line.”
He went on to give a detailed explanation of how he scored his team’s third goal of the game.
“I just remember Vini picking up the ball in the middle. The space was behind on that right side when Brahim came inside, attracted the full-back in because of the one-vs-one pressure, and I always fancy my legs going in behind, even after a tough run of games.
“Got to the ball in the end, just made the yard and swung everything at it really, and it went in so I’m really happy.”
