AC Milan have confirmed interest in Rasmus Hojlund and are hoping to take the Manchester United frontman on a season-long loan.
BBC Sport’s chief reporter Simon Stone verified on Friday evening that Milan are indeed sizing up a move for the Danish international, amid expectations he is offloaded before the window closes.
Hojlund has expressed on numerous occasions since 2024/2025 ended that he intends to stay put at Old Trafford and fight for his spot long-term. However, the impending unveiling of Benjamin Sekso will likely result in the decision being taken out of his hands, with INEOS actively making plans to part ways with their lacklustre No.9.

In regards to his potential Milan switch, Stone claims that the Italian giants hope to take the 22-year-old on loan for 2025/2026, after which they will have the chance to sign him permanently. They’d be willing to pay £3.47 million up front to make the transfer materialise, with a buy option of around £34.7 million deemed acceptable from their perspective.
Of course, United might turn their noses up at the proposal, given they forked out a whopping £64m to sign the player back in 2023, and he still has three years remaining on his contract. Additionally, a buy option over an obligation could leave them in a similar predicament this time next year of trying to sell Hojlund in the aftermath of a substandard season.
Milan also failed to qualify for European football last term, leaving them in a precarious financial situation akin to United’s. Nonetheless, fans of both sides can expect ‘more clarity’ in the ‘coming week’.
