Bayern Women host Hoffenheim in key game at the top | OneFootball

FC Bayern Women face their first big challenge of the Google Pixel Bundesliga season as they host Hoffenheim for Matchday 3 on Monday (kick-off: 6pm CEST). Alexander Straus’s team will be looking to extend their record 41-game unbeaten run in the league and make it five straight wins in all competitions as they take to the FC Bayern Campus pitch. After beating Wolfsburg 1-0 to lift the Supercup in August, progressing in the DFB Cup against Sand (6-0) and victory away at Turbine Potsdam (2-0) in the opening Bundesliga game of the season, Bayern continued their run in the campaign’s first home game against RB Leipzig last Friday. After a rude awakening, the Munich Frauen hit their stride and turned things around with goals from Linda Dallmann and Georgia Stanway in the space of four first-half minutes. Klara Bühl and Lea Schüller both hit braces after the restart to earn a 6-2 win and extend that perfect start.

Opponent: Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim also made a good start to 2024/25 with a 2-1 win at Essen in the Bundesliga and 7-0 thrashing of Hegnach in the DFB Cup second round, but that run ended last Monday with a 3-2 defeat to Freiburg. It leaves Theodoros Dedes’ team in seventh place on three points coming into Matchday 3.

Bayern did the double over the Sinsheim club last season, claiming a tight 1-0 win at the Campus before a more comfortable 4-1 victory away from home on the final day of the season as the champions got their hands on the Meisterschale.

Bayern come into this home game still without Lena Oberdorf (cruciate ligament), Katharina Naschenweng (knee) and Franziska Kett (ankle). Magdalena Eriksson will also sit this one out with a knee issue, while Ana Maria Guzman is still working on her fitness after a knee injury. Alara Sehitler has returned from the U20 World Cup in Colombia with Laura Gloning and Sarah Ernst, but her involvement is still to be decided.

Linda Dallmann: “We faced different sorts of teams in the first games of the season, who we had to adapt to. It wasn’t all perfect, but you can see when we hit our stride that it’s really fun to play in this team. Then it’s easier for me to score goals. Now we’ve got the first big test coming up against Hoffenheim – an opponent that will pose us new challenges.”

All Bayern and Hoffenheim fans can sign a petition against right-wing extremism, antisemitism and racism in the *1900 club house before the game. Supported by FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer and honorary president Uli Hoeneß, signatures will be collected on large rolls of paper that will eventually stretch from Munich’s Feldherrenhalle to the Siegestor.
