Chelsea appear close to signing 22-year-old Xavi Simons, who left PSG earlier this year, though Manchester City are reportedly also interested in the Dutch midfielder. Regardless of his destination, PSG stand to earn a significant profit from the transfer.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that RB Leipzig have agreed to an €80 million deal for Simons, with €55 million paid upfront. Simons is under contract with Leipzig until June 2027, and PSG included a sell-on clause to secure a share of any future transfer fees.
This strategy is already paying off. Adam Crafton of The Athletic noted that PSG recently received €17 million (£15 million) from Hugo Ekitiké’s move to Liverpool through a similar arrangement.

Romano reported Saturday that Simons remains committed to joining Chelsea, despite recent rumors linking him to Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and other clubs. He is determined to move to Chelsea and is now waiting for the club to complete planned sales, a process set in motion since July.
Recently, Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Bayern Munich have shown serious interest in Simons, but a deal seems unlikely. The main reason is that Simons is fully committed to joining Chelsea. A verbal agreement with the club is already in place and considered certain, though final terms between the two clubs are still pending.
