Bayern Munich convinced Thomas Müller isn’t heading for retirement after club departure | OneFootball

Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller received his projected start against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The 35-year-old did not disappoint in the ten slot either. A commanding performance and assist earned him Player of the Match. After last night’s Bundesliga Topspiel, FCB sporting director Christoph Freund had a chance to comment on the future of one of German football’s all-time greats.

“I’m convinced that it’s not over for him and that he still has the energy to tackle something new,” Freund told Sky90. “He’s thinking it over. No matter where he goes, he’ll elevate his club. That’s how he works and lives.”

Long-time Bayern and national team colleague Joshua Kimmich also had a chance to offer up his thoughts. As the German football world continues to reel from the shock news that Müller will be departing the only club he’s ever represented professionally, Kimmich echoed Freund’s sentiments. Müller simply doesn’t seem destined for the retirement rocking chair.

“I have the sense that he still enjoys football a lot,” Kimmich told Sky Germany. “Thomas and I have talked about it a few times, but it’s tough to gauge [his thought process. We’ll see what his plans are.“
