FC Bayern München attacking midfielder/winger Jamal Musiala will be out of the FC Bayern squad for a long duration due to two notable injuries suffered close to halftime in his side's Club World Cup quarter-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.
Team doctors have confirmed that in the collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, Musiala suffered a dislocated ankle and a fractured fibula. The official report from the club also states that Musiala has already left Orlando, and is on his way to München to undergo the surgeries required.
Bayern’s sporting CEO, Max Eberl, said about the matter that “this serious injury, and the lengthy lay-off, are a real shock for Jamal and all of us.”
He added: “This hits FC Bayern. Everyone knows how immensely Jamal is for our game, what a central role that he has in our team. Furthermore, there is also a huge human impact and we all feel for him: Jamal has just come back from an injury and will now be out for another long period.”
Eberl finished by saying: “He will get everything he needs from us. We will support him intensively, we will be by his side, and we already look forward to when he is back on the pitch.”
Musiala had returned to the Bayern squad at this tournament after a torn muscle bundle that he suffered in a 3-1 victory against FC Augsburg on April 4.
Yesterday, Bild published a report stating that the recovery time for Musiala’s new injury would be four to five months, meaning that he could return in November or December.
