Franco Baresi will soon find himself more involved at Milan, it’s reported.
Milan have gone through some changes at a corporate level this summer, partying ways above all with Paolo Maldini, who was the most central figure in the sporting side of the Club.
The dismissal of Maldini enraged many of the fans (who still bought season-tickets in large numbers) and caught the players by surprise.
According to Milannews.it however, Franco Baresi, the legendary captain of Milan and perhaps the only icon in the history of the club comparable to Maldini, will now be taking a more central role in the Club’s activities.
Baresi has been acting as an Honorary Vice President but it is said that Gerry Cardinale and the new management will take a bigger advantage of Baresi’s credentials at Milan in both the business and sporting aspects. What Franco will actually be in charge of remains to be seen, but the face of Baresi is expected to be more visible from now on, and Cardinale recognizes the need for a respected, historical figure to be around.
Milan had been looking for a figure to act as a link between the squad and the management. They apparently wanted Zlatan Ibrahimović, but as per journalist Nicolò Schira, Baresi will be filling this role.
