Barcelona’s bid for treble success will be tested tonight as the Catalans face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.
The arch-rivals meet in an El Clásico contest with silverware on the line in Seville. Barcelona lead the title race by four points and face Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-finals next week. First, Hansi Flick’s side will aim to lift the Spanish Cup and complete stage one of their treble pursuit.
Real Madrid enter the final under scrutiny. A disappointing European exit was criticised in the Spanish media, while there is ground to make up in La Liga. Two upcoming clashes with Barcelona, starting this evening in the Copa del Rey final, will determine their season.
Robert Lewandowski is ruled out for Barcelona with the club’s leading scorer nursing a hamstring injury. The Poland international will sit out tonight’s final and the upcoming clash with Inter Milan in the Champions League. It is hoped the veteran will return in mid-May.
Lewandowski joins Marc Casado, Marc Bernal and Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the sidelines, while Alejandro Balde has failed to recover in time from a hamstring issue of his own. Dani Olmo should continue in an advanced midfield role after scoring in consecutive La Liga games.
Barcelona predicted XI: Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, I Martinez, Martin; De Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Torres.
Barcelona host Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday 26th April 2025. Kick-off at Estadio de La Cartuja is 21:00 BST.
In the UK, the game will be broadcast on Premier Sports 1.
