Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has shown his full commitment to the club by turning down several attractive offers from the Premier League.

According to SPORT, the Frenchman made it clear he had no intention of leaving, choosing instead to stay at Barça and continue growing under new manager Hansi Flick.

It is said that Kounde values the trust Flick has placed in him, especially after being the most used player last season before picking up an injury near the end.

Notably, despite his preference to play as a centre-back, he accepted a role at right-back without complaint, putting the team first every time.

New contract on the horizon

Now, after returning from the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, Kounde is set to sign a new deal that will keep him at Barcelona until 2030.

Although his current contract runs until 2027, the club is rewarding his performances, attitude, and importance to the squad with an improved extension.

Kounde’s time at Barcelona has seen consistent improvement, but last season was clearly his best yet.

Despite missing the final seven matches due to a thigh injury, he still managed to feature in 53 games and logged 4,423 minutes across all competitions, more than anyone else before his injury.

His fitness and dedication, including maintaining his form even during holidays, showed just how serious he is about succeeding at Barcelona.

The club sees him as a key figure in the long-term project and, with his ability to defend solidly and contribute when moving forward, Kounde is seen as a complete defender.

His new contract until 2030 is a reflection of that belief. For Barça, locking down a player of his quality and mindset is not just good news, it is a statement of intent.
