Barcelona to announce €62m signing in next 48 hours, expected squad number is known | OneFootball

Barcelona are set to complete their second signing of the summer, having agreed a deal with RB Leipzig for Dani Olmo. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has jetted into Catalonia, and it was reported on Wednesday that he has already passed his medical examinations.

Barcelona believe that they have the financial capability to finalise the deal, which will cost an estimated €62m (€55m upfront, €7m add-ons). With that in mind, Sport say that OImo’s signing will be made official on Friday.

Olmo is a product of La Masia, and nine years after he left for Dinamo Zagreb, he will make his return to Barcelona. The report has already speculation upon his possible squad number, and it’s expected that he will take the number 20 jersey, which was vacated by Sergi Roberto at the start of July.

Olmo’s arrival is one that has caused plenty of discussion among Barcelona supporters, given that his profile was not essential for Hansi Flick’s squad. Nevertheless, he should be a valuable addition, especially if he can carry on the form he showed at Euro 2024.
