The ongoing summer has not been much different despite hopes that the Catalans would be in a much better position.

But, the future looks bright for Barcelona, considering that a return to Spotify Camp Nou is edging closer while the administration has done a solid job of getting the wage bill under control, considering how bloated it was when Joan Laporta & co. took over.

Desire Doue the next big target for Barcelona

With the financial situation expected to improve before next summer, Barcelona seem to have big plans in place for the future.

Indeed, transfer insider IndyKaila News on X reports that the La Liga champions are ready to make PSG sensation Desire Doue their next big target.

The idea is for the Blaugrana to recruit elite players again and build a team around Lamine Yamal so that they can dominate Europe once again.

As such, Doue has been identified as the next big target to lead the Catalans’ new project alongside Yamal.

One of the most exciting young talents in Europe, Doue had been linked with Barcelona in the past, when he was still at Rennes. However, PSG beat the Blaugrana to his signing last summer and the 20-year-old attacker has not looked back since.

Indeed, Doue played a key role in Les Parisiens’ treble triumph under Luis Enrique last season, racking up 16 goals and assists apiece in 61 matches across all competitions.

Doue saved his best for the UEFA Champions League final, scoring a brace and assisting one more to help PSG trounce Inter Milan 5-0, on their way to lifting the trophy.

Desire Doue and Lamine Yamal duo to dominate Europe?

In Lamine Yamal, Barcelona already have one of the most talented young footballers across the globe, with the 18-year-old making his impact felt during last season.

Pairing him up with another generational player like Doue has the potential to catapult Barcelona to the next level and help them reclaim the top spot in European football.

The 20-year-old has a contract with PSG that runs until 2029, and any move for him will be hard to pull off as things stand.

But Barcelona have proven themselves capable of attracting the best players despite their ongoing financial issues. And should that get resolved in the coming months, one would not put it beyond Joan Laporta & co. to pull off a transfer of this magnitude.

After all, it must also be noted that the presidential elections are just around the corner, and Laporta will be eager to announce his candidature with a marquee signing.
