Lamine Yamal continues to command admiration from every corner of European football.

At just 17 years of age, the Barcelona prodigy has already shown that he is not just a rising star, but a force capable of changing the course of crucial matches.

In Saturday’s league clash against Real Valladolid, Hansi Flick had hoped to rest Yamal ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Inter Milan.

With Barça needing fresh legs for the decisive European night, the youngster was initially left out of the starting XI.

However, when Dani Rodriguez was forced off with an injury, Flick had no choice but to call upon his teenage sensation. Once again, Yamal delivered.

With his introduction, the tide of the game shifted. His presence sparked life into Barcelona’s attack and helped secure a hard-fought but vital three points.

Praise from Inter’s assistant coach

While Barça edged past Valladolid, Inter Milan — resting several key starters — also did their part by beating Hellas Verona 1-0 in Serie A.

But the real battle lies ahead at Montjuïc, and Inter know exactly who they will have to stop.

Speaking after the match, Inter assistant coach Massimiliano Farris made it clear that Yamal has left a deep impression on the Nerazzurri staff. Reflecting on the first leg, Farris admitted:

“We had seen the kid on video, but the truth is that he made plays of superior quality.

“We tried not to give him space, but he simply knows how to exploit it. He is the future of world football. We will study some solutions to stop him.”

It is rare to hear such praise from an opposing camp, especially ahead of a do-or-die Champions League encounter.

But Yamal has earned every word. Whether it is unlocking defences with his dribbling, his close control under pressure, or his vision in the final third, the teenager has shown the kind of maturity that makes top-level defenders nervous.
