Lamine Yamal’s name continues to rise in the football world, and now he has caught the eye of none other than David Beckham.
The former Real Madrid midfielder had only praise for the 17-year-old Barcelona starlet, especially after his standout performances in the Champions League semi-finals.
Despite Barcelona falling short of reaching the final, Yamal impressed with his courage, creativity, and skill across both legs of the tie.
What makes his rise even more impressive is his age. At just 17, Yamal has been fearless on the big stage, showing maturity well beyond his years.
Many fans have started comparing him to Lionel Messi, not because he has reached those heights yet, but because of the calmness, vision, and magic he brings every time he plays.
His impact, even in high-pressure matches, has made it clear that Barça have a very special player on their hands.

Speaking after a friendly between Inter Miami and Barcelona, David Beckham didn’t hold back in sharing his admiration for the young winger. On CBS, he said,
“He’s the first player you see and think… You can’t really compare anyone to Messi, in my opinion… but he’s the closest thing I’ve seen,” he began saying as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
The Inter Miami president, who now works closely with Lionel Messi in the MLS, added something that made everyone take notice: “One day, I think he could be as good as Lionel Messi. Only every 20 or 30 years does a player like that come along,” he concluded.
That is a massive compliment coming from someone who has played with and against some of the greatest footballers of all time.
Yamal still has a long road ahead, but with backing like this and performances that speak for themselves, he could well be on his way to joining the elite. Barça fans will be hoping he keeps his feet on the ground—and his eyes on greatness.
