Barcelona star will be ‘converted’ into new position next season | OneFootball

A headline member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is set to be fielded in a different position next season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Raphinha as the player in question.

Wide-man Raphinha, for his part, is of course in the midst of nothing short of a spectacular campaign to date.

Looking like a player reborn under the watch of Hansi Flick, the Brazilian has exploded to the tune of a whopping 34 goals and 25 assists across all competitions.

So impressive has he looked, in fact, that Raphinha is considered as being amongst the very frontrunners to lift the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

Safe to say, then, that it may come as something of a surprise to learn of the plans of those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital for the 28-year-old in the 2025/26 campaign.

As per a report from Sport, ahead of the predicted arrival of a new left winger in Barca’s squad:

‘Hansi Flick, along with his coaching staff, have decided that they will convert Rapha into a ’10’.’

This is a role which Raphinha filled on occasion earlier this season, evidently doing enough to convince Flick and co. of his abilities in a more central role along the way.

So much so that it is concluded:

‘Playing inside will not be a sporadic tactical resource, but an absolute truth. This will be his new habitat.’
