Barcelona are ready to make a significant shift in their approach to talent acquisition, particularly in South America, as they aim to bolster their squad, claims a report from SPORT.
The club’s return to the 1:1 financial rule allows them greater flexibility in their sports planning and paves the way for a more aggressive strategy in scouting and recruitment.
This marks a dramatic shift from their recent struggles, where financial restrictions led to a squad that lacked depth and balance.
To address these challenges, Barcelona’s management is considering player departures this month to create room for new additions.
Any funds generated from such moves will likely be reinvested to strengthen the squad, which is currently stretched thin due to the difficulties faced in the previous transfer windows.
One of the areas where this new strategy is expected to have the most impact is the South American market, widely regarded as a hub for football talent.

Barcelona have always maintained a presence in this region and it is no secret that scouts from the club regularly attend tournaments across the continent.
For example, one scout is currently at the Copinha tournament in Sao Paulo, while another will travel to Venezuela later this month for the South American U-20 Championship.
In recent years, Barcelona have managed to make notable signings from South America, including Pocho Roman from Ferro Carril Oeste for €1.2 million and Vitor Roque, who cost €35 million.
While these players are still developing, the club sees their potential as part of a long-term plan.
Looking ahead, the club is determined to identify and secure young talent before their market value skyrockets. The goal is to bring these players into Barça Atletic, allowing them to adapt to the club’s philosophy and eventually transition to the first team.
Interestingly, Ronald Araujo’s success serves as a prime example of how this approach can pay off. Barcelona’s management is confident that similar impactful signings will soon become a reality.
