In October, SPORT reported that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping an eye on Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

While de Jong is committed to staying at Barcelona, PSG’s track record of signing players from the Catalan club makes them a possible destination next summer.

PSG has bolstered their midfield in recent years with signings like Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz, and João Neves. Adding to the speculation, journalist Ferran Correas suggested that Barcelona could be open to selling de Jong next summer.

Amid the transfer rumors heading into 2025, Spanish outlet AS noted the latest on where de Jong stands on a potential departure from the Catalan side.

“De Jong is very comfortable at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving, despite the club being open to receiving a significant transfer fee for him. As of today, De Jong will remain at Barça.”

Fichajes reported on Wednesday that Borussia Dortmund could be an unexpected destination for the Dutch midfielder. Dortmund are said to be targeting players who can strengthen their group and improve their chances in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The outlet also recently linked Liverpool with de Jong as a potential midfield replacement. With Barcelona facing financial challenges and de Jong’s wages reportedly around £300,000 per week, the club might consider selling if the right offer comes in.

De Jong is under contract with Barcelona until 2026, but no extension has been signed yet. While the report doesn’t specify an asking price, Transfermarkt values him at €60 million.
