Barcelona president Joan Laporta has sent what has been described as a ‘veiled threat’ the way of chief summer transfer target Nico Williams.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into the latest developments in Barca’s ongoing pursuit of the explosive wide-man.

After it was widely reported just last week that the Blaugrana’s hopes of landing Nico had been all but ended, claims have begun to mount once more that the Camp Nou brass are again pushing hard to thrash out a deal for his signature.

And the driving force behind as much, it is understood, is the aforementioned Joan Laporta.

As per a report from Sport, Barcelona’s president has this week taken direct control of negotiations with Williams’ camp.

As much comes after Deco and his team of directors failed to get the job done in their own efforts to finalise an accord with the 22-year-old and his camp.

And Laporta, it would appear, is employing an altogether more aggressive approach in such talks…

The Blaugrana chief has made clear to Nico that, despite reports to the contrary, he will not have another chance to make the move to Catalunya’s capital down the line.

In what is labelled as a ‘veiled threat’, Laporta has laid out the situation as follows:

‘The Barça train will not pass by again. If Nico Williams does not sign now, he will never do so.’
