A big day arrives for FC Barcelona as they attempt to take what could be their final leap in the UEFA Champions League. Visiting the San Siro to take on Inter Milan, this is it for the Catalan giants. One more step, and either Barcelona or Inter Milan could end up in this season’s Champions League final.
Hansi Flick’s side will be looking to win themselves, and that will require a strong starting eleven. Unfortunately, there are some big injuries that Barcelona will have to work around, but the German coach will not let that be an excuse.
Here is how Barcelona could line up for this massive European encounter.
Expected Line-up:
Goalkeeper: Wojciech Szczesny
The Polish goalkeeper seems like a guarantee to start this game. With Marc-Andre Ter Stegen not even being a part of the UEFA Champions League squad list for Barcelona, Wojciech Szczesny will be the man in goal.
Right-back: Ronald Araujo
In terms of physicality and speed, Barcelona have no better defensive option than Ronald Araujo. With Jules Kounde injured, the Uruguayan defender could be a great option for Hansi Flick to consider for that position.
Centre-back: Andreas Christensen
After putting on a solid display in his previous appearance as a starter, Andreas Christensen could be a reliable starting option for this game as well. Moreover, if Hansi Flick does field a back-four of only centre-backs, the Danish defender may automatically become a guarantee.
Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi
The young Spaniard will likely be a guarantee in the heart of the Barcelona defense. His passing range is undeniably impactful, and his defensive abilities are just as important for Hansi Flick’s team.
Left-back: Inigo Martinez
With Flick possibly looking to make a change at left-back, Inigo Martinez is the only alternative option to Gerard Martin that comes to mind. Moreover, since Alejandro Balde is still not ready to play, the German coach will have to make a big decision for the left-back position.
Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong has constantly enabled the players around him to play even better this season. In this game, however, he will need to be at his very best in order to help Barcelona reach a potential Champions League final.

CDM: Pedri
After scoring a surreal goal in the Copa del Rey final and having been exceptional throughout the season, Pedri is undeniably a game-changer for Barcelona. His ability on the ball and his intellect on the pitch are extremely valuable assets for Hansi Flick’s team.
The 17-year-old Barcelona star will undeniably attract a lot of attention in this game, and his teammates will need to use that to their advantage. Moreover, Lamine Yamal is the kind of player who can decide games all by himself.
Crucial in tight spaces, Dani Olmo will need to give a strong display in this game if he ends up starting. He has all the quality and talent to deliver such a performance, and that is exactly what is needed from him in this game.
The Brazilian winger has been Barça’s most impactful player in the UEFA Champions League this season, and this is yet another big game for him. His performances against top teams have been sensational as well, and Hansi Flick will be expecting more of the same.
Scored an important goal in the first leg and he has scored several vital goals throughout this season. In times of need, Ferran Torres has definitely stepped up for Barcelona this season and this will likely be another massive opportunity for him to do so.
