FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad in this summer transfer window and are trying to reinforce some of the weaker areas of their team for the next season.
In this regard, the Catalans are reportedly close to signing their top transfer target, i.e., the goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Meanwhile, they are also looking to sign a left winger to enhance their attack.
In this regard, the Liverpool forward Luis Diaz was reported to be their most desired target. However, there are other players in the Blaugrana club’s sights as well, and one such player is the AC Milan star Rafael Leao.
The winger was associated quite closely with Barcelona last year, but he is being linked with them once again. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalans’ interest in the forward is quite diminished this time.
This is the case even though the Blaugranes understand that the Portuguese star will cost less this year than what the Italians were demanding for him last year, i.e., €80-100 million.

This is because the forward has diminished his value in the last year. Despite his spectacular performances in some games, including the UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu, he has been quite inconsistent in this last season.
In fact, this last season was his worst among the last four seasons in terms of his attacking numbers, as he scored only 12 goals and provided another 12 assists.
The current guiding policy of Barcelona is to sign quality players to raise the bar and compete for the UEFA Champions League next year.
Thus, they are looking to sign only highly competitive players and are not keen to sign expensive bench players. Therefore, even though Rafael Leao is going to cost less than what he was going to last year, the Blaugranes believe getting him would still not be good business.
