The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have kicked into gear early efforts towards a big-name signing for the summer of 2025.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Jonathan Tah as the player in question.

The name of defender Tah, of course, positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital in the days leading up to the Spanish transfer deadline.

This came after word was forthcoming that the Camp Nou brass, amid something of a personnel crisis at the heart of Hansi Flick’s backline, had earmarked the German international as a potential cut-price addition.

In the end, no such signing was forthcoming, with Tah having stayed put with Bayer Leverkusen for the season ahead.

This, however, does not mean that Barcelona have given up on striking a deal for his services.

In fact, far from it…

As per the aforementioned Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, Deco and co. have already made contact with Tah’s entourage, over the prospect of his arrival as a free agent next summer.

Further to this, work will be kickstarted over the weeks ahead, to determine whether or not the 28-year-old’s signing will be a viable one within the scope of Financial Fair Play.
