It is no secret that Barcelona are great admirers of Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva and have been gunning for his signing for a few years now.

However, there is hope that the transfer could finally go through this summer as Barça are optimistic about returning to the 1:1 spending rule in the summer.

That, coupled with Silva’s £50 million (€58 million) release clause, has given Barcelona hope that the transfer of the Portuguese international could be viable this summer.

However, there was the threat of PSG meddling in the affairs as they were credited with an interest in the 29-year-old attacking midfielder.

PSG no longer in the race

However, as per the latest update from SPORT, Barcelona now have a clear run at Bernardo Silva as PSG are no longer pursuing the signing of the Manchester City superstar.

Last summer, when they were unable to sign him, Barcelona believed that Silva would end up at PSG, owing to his good relationship with their sporting director Luis Campos, who brought him to AS Monaco from SL Benfica.

However, that did not come to fruition as he ended up penning a renewal at Man City with a release clause of £50 million.

While PSG were still said to be interested, SPORT reports that their plans have now changed and they are no longer looking to sign Silva, with their strategy getting altered significantly with Kylian Mbappe set to leave.

It has given Barcelona a clear run at Silva’s signing, with the player himself aware of the change in PSG’s stance.

Bernardo ‘crazy’ to join Barcelona

As was reported earlier this week, Bernardo Silva is ‘crazy’ about joining Barcelona in the summer and would be willing to take a pay cut to make the move happen.

The 29-year-old Portuguese international has always wanted to play in Spain and with an exit from Manchester City now looming and PSG seemingly out of the race, Barcelona may have their best chance ever to close the deal.
