Gerard Martin joined Barcelona in the summer of 2023 and spent his debut season with the reserve team, Barça Atletic, making a solid impression.
So much so that the 22-year-old left-back got called up to the first-team pre-season training by manager Hansi Flick in the summer.
Since then, the Spaniard has not looked back, becoming a reliable alternative for Alejandro Balde in the left-back slot even though there are some limitations in his game.
While there have been games when he has not performed at the desired level, Gerard Martin has the complete trust of manager Flick.
As such, Barcelona are set to renew his contract with SPORT reporting that the defender will soon sign a new deal with the Blaugrana until the summer of 2028. His current contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Despite generating some doubts among fans, the 22-year-old has the full faith of the staff led by Flick and continues to gather minutes.
So far this season, Martin has played 17 matches across all competitions, even registering a couple of assists.
The Spanish full-back even came close to scoring his first goal for the club on Wednesday night during the Copa del Rey clash against Real Betis, in which he started ahead of Balde.
While the youngster might not always be a standout, it is clear that Martin has done enough to convince Flick and as a consequence, the club.
As such, Martin’s contract renewal with Barcelona over a three-year extension is imminent. An agreement has been reached with the new deal likely to have a €100 million release clause.
