Amid the ongoing tension surrounding the dispute with Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the Barcelona squad returned to training on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
The Catalans are scheduled to play Como 1907 in the Joan Gamper Trophy match on Sunday at Estadi Johan Cruyff in the team’s traditional curtain raiser before the start of the actual season.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Ferran Torres is suffering from muscle overload and trained separately from the rest of the squad as a precaution.
The Spanish forward already missed the final friendly of the pre-season tour of Asia against Daegu FC. Now, his participation in Sunday’s match against Como is in serious doubt.

However, he ended up missing the subsequent fixture against Daegu due to the muscle overload – something he is yet to fully recover from. As such, he did not train with the rest of the group today and worked individually.
It remains to be seen whether Ferran is ready in time to face Como on Sunday night or whether Hansi Flick opts not to take any risks with the attacker.
Meanwhile, Flick once again included young players Jofre Torrents, Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, Guille Fernandez, and Toni Fernandez in first-team training. All four were part of the Asian tour and have a real chance of getting minutes in the Gamper match.
Also present in training were Inaki Pena, Hector Fort, and Oriol Romeu – three players expected to leave the club before the end of the summer transfer window.
