Barcelona fans continue to highlight refereeing inconsistencies after Real Madrid’s latest penalty award

Sections of the Barcelona fanbase have on Saturday evening once more made clear their dismay with what have been perceived as double standards in the officiating between themselves and Real Madrid.

This comes owing to a penalty awarded to the latter during their latest outing.

Real Madrid marked their return to action this afternoon, welcoming Real Sociedad to Spain’s capital as part of the season’s final round of La Liga fixtures.

And en route to an eventual 2-0 triumph, Los Blancos were afforded the chance to open the scoring from the spot during the first-half.

This came owing to a handball in the Sociedad penalty area, drawn by Arda Güler.

Kylian Mbappé saw his ensuing effort from 12 yards kept out, before slotting home on the rebound.

And the penalty award, as alluded to above, has since sparked widespread unrest amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion.

In the game’s aftermath, many have been quick to highlight a moment from the recent Clásico meeting between the sides, which saw Real Madrid escape a spot-kick for an Aurélien Tchouaméni handball.

This comes amid long-standing claims of inconsistencies in the officiating of Spanish football’s two biggest clubs:
