Barcelona exploring a player-plus-cash deal

As revealed by Jose Alvarez at El Chiringuito, FC Barcelona are exploring the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal with AC Milan in their pursuit of Leao.

Despite AC Milan’s public stance that Leao is not for sale, negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly ongoing, with Barcelona keen on finding a creative solution to secure the talented attacker.

The talks have been facilitated by Leao’s agent, Jorge Mendes, with initial figures of around €100 million being discussed.

However, Barcelona’s financial constraints mean that a straightforward cash deal could be challenging, leading to the consideration of including one of their current players as part of the agreement.

While Jose Alvarez refused to share details of any specific player who is under consideration for an exchange deal, the likes of Ferran Torres and Raphinha could emerge as potential candidates.

Alvarez did confirm the value of the player included in the transaction is expected to be in the range of €30-35 million, with the remaining amount being paid in cash.

Barcelona’s general manager has urged caution, emphasizing that patience is key as the club navigates this complex negotiation. With time still left in the transfer window and a flurry of activity anticipated in the coming days, Barcelona are carefully weighing its options.
