In a surprising update shared by Real Madrid Confidencial, it has been revealed that Barcelona showed interest in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo during this transfer window.
Before shifting their focus to Marcus Rashford, the Catalan club explored the idea of bringing in the Brazilian winger.
According to the report, Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s president, used intermediaries to reach out to Rodrygo. The goal was to check if a move to Camp Nou could be possible.
However, no serious talks or negotiations took place between the two sides. After missing out on Nico Williams, Barcelona began looking at other options in the market, and Rodrygo’s name came up as one of the potential targets.
Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid has raised questions recently.
His performances last season did not meet expectations, and there have been rumours about his future being uncertain. This gave Barcelona hope that they might have a real chance to sign him.

Despite Barcelona’s interest, it seems unlikely that Rodrygo, who scored 14 goals and 11 assists last season, would consider such a move.
he Brazilian forward has a strong connection with Real Madrid and respects the club deeply.
For him, switching to Barcelona would feel like a betrayal, and it’s not something he is ready to do.
Even if Rodrygo were to leave Madrid in the future, the club believes he would choose another path, not their biggest rivals.
At just 24 years old, the forward still has time to grow and prove his worth at Real Madrid. Leaving for Barcelona right now would not make sense for his career.
Another important point is Barcelona’s ongoing financial problems. With the club struggling to manage its budget, signing a player like Rodrygo, who is valued highly, would be almost impossible.
Real Madrid are confident that, regardless of the rumours, Rodrygo is staying put, and he will not wear a Barça shirt anytime soon.
