Barcelona defensive duo on Luis de la Fuente’s radar for Spain squad | OneFootball

FC Barcelona approach the dreaded international break after the game against Alaves this weekend. The club would wish not many of their players are called up to international duty although that is not how it usually works.

Luis de la Fuente is expected to name his Spain squad for the Nations League games against Denmark and Serbia with Barcelona expected to have significant representation. We covered a story earlier in the evening that Inigo Martinez and Marc Casado are on the radar of La Roja’s coach.

For Spain’s last international break, Luis de la Fuente called up four Barcelona players – Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo and Pedri. With the exception of Olmo, the rest are expected to make the cut this time as well.

As per SPORT, the impressive Barcelona defensive duo of Inigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi are on the radar of Luis de la Fuente as he prepares to announce his squad list tomorrow morning. Marc Casado is also on the manager’s radar.

Inigo and Cubarsi have a better chance of making the final cut, especially in the aftermath of Robin Le Normand’s injury. On the other hand, Casado has a lot of competition to reckon with despite the injury to Rodri.

Inigo Martinez has been spectacular for Barcelona so far this season. He has led an injury-marred backline with aplomb and deserves the recall to the national team. Pau Cubarsi has grown from strength to strength to take his game forward this season.

Alejandro Balde is one more player in line for a call-up to the national team after a long absence through injury. Pablo Torre on the other hand is expected to receive a U21 call-up. All things considered, Barcelona’s only wish would be for the players to return unscathed and let’s see how it goes.
