Barcelona close to securing renewal agreement with €65 million-rated key defender | OneFootball

It has been an eventful summer for FC Barcelona so far, with a few new signings, some key renewals, and some notable departures being finalised by Deco & Co.

The work does not stop for the Catalans’ sporting director and the technical staff, with the club now focusing on a few more contract renewals considered crucial for the future.

Frenkie de Jong and Eric Garcia, both of whom have deals running out in 2026, are at the top of that list, with the La Liga champions working to extend their contracts soon.

Jules Kounde renewal agreement close

And, according to SPORT, a renewal agreement between Barcelona and key defender Jules Kounde is also close.

Although not as urgent as the cases of De Jong and Garcia, Kounde’s renewal is also expected before the end of the year.

The French defender is under contract until 30 June 2027, but his strong performances merit an improved and extended deal, especially considering that he has suitors in the Premier League.

As per the report, Barcelona’s sporting management and the player’s agent have held several meetings, the most recent one taking place last Monday.

An agreement is close, although some details still need to be worked out before the next meeting.

Barcelona are confident that the renewal will happen, as Kounde has always wanted to remain at the club he chose in 2022, turning down more lucrative offers from Chelsea.

The only unknown, at this moment, is the timing of the contract renewal, which will depend on the club’s Financial Fair Play margin.
