Roberto aims to renew for two years

Indeed, according to MARCA, Roberto is looking forward to renewing his contract with Barcelona for two years and is currently awaiting a formal offer from the Blaugranes.

Roberto renewed his contract with Barça last season for one season with a further optional year, the activation of which requires the agreement of both parties.

Both the club and the player want the clause to be enforced, but the captain’s current request is to extend his contract for another season, subject to different variables.

Barcelona have not rejected that possibility, and the captain is waiting for the club to formalise and send him the final proposal.

Roberto has a good relationship with Barcelona, and important members of the team have shown support for his continuity.

One of his strongest supporters is head coach Xavi, while Deco, the sporting director, and club president Joan Laporta support the notion of extending Roberto’s contract.

Girona blunder will not imperil his chances of renewal

Roberto produced a disappointing display against Girona, as one of his passes led to the hosts scoring a goal.

But despite his error, Sergi Roberto’s contract will be renewed by Barça because the club values his versatility and ability to play across multiple positions in the lineup.

Moreover, Roberto is regarded as a vital member of the team in the locker room, where his leadership and upbeat demeanour support team spirit.

The Spaniard has often chimed in with solid displays when the team is going through an injury crisis, while Xavi particularly holds him in high regard.
