Barcelona boss Flick speaks on Real Madrid challenge for the first time | OneFootball

New Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick this week opened up on the club’s rivalry with Real Madrid for the very first time.

This comes as Barca prepare to face off with their arch rivals for the first time under Flick’s watch in a little over a week’s time.

As part of their upcoming pre-season tour of the USA, the Blaugrana have pencilled in their latest Clásico clash.

Though the matchup will come as little more than a friendly, it could act as an early marker, when it comes to the hopes of Flick and co. of dethroning the La Liga champions over the season ahead.

Speaking during his first interview as Barcelona boss this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the season’s Clásicos-in-waiting was put to the latest installation on the Camp Nou touchline.

And, in his response, Hansi Flick moved to play the subject, in its entirety, down.

Eager to shift focus away from the direct meetings between Barca and Real, the German tactician told Barca One:

“Real Madrid? We have a great team and we are 100% convinced. We will play only two matches against them, we have more matches ahead of us and we must focus on that.”
