In a recent post on X, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that Barcelona are planning to move in for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. It has been stated that the Catalan club would have to rival Bayern Munich in the race to land the Colombian talent this summer.
Diaz enjoyed a productive campaign at the Merseyside club recently after he put in a handful of promising performances on the left side of Arne Slot’s attack. The 28-year-old scored 17 goals and earned eight assists in 50 appearances for the Reds last season across multiple competitions.
The Colombian talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.66 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 42.3% of his attempts on target. Diaz was even accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half after making 84.2% of his attempted passes in the English top flight (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will expire in the summer of 2027. Hence, Barcelona have got no choice but to meet Liverpool’s demands if they want to recruit the Colombia international.

Diaz has got the pace and dribbling ability to cause a lot of problems for his marker out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third and can shoot the ball with venom and precision from long range.
The Colombia international can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from the left flank. He is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also operate as a centre-forward if told to do so.
We can expect Diaz to inject more firepower into Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick’s frontline. He is good enough to help the Catalan giants compete for some major silverware in the coming seasons.
At 28, Diaz is playing in his prime and could be a real asset in Flick’s squad next season. Therefore, it makes sense for Barca to go all out to snap him up before the end of this transfer period. However, Flick needs to give him some time to adjust to life at the Nou Camp.
