Given their current financial situation, Barcelona continue to keep their eyes on the free-agent pool to reinforce their squad.

A move for Adrien Rabiot, who has still not signed for any club after his contract at Juventus expired on June 30, is being explored at the moment.

However, at the same time, the Blaugrana are already drawing up a list of potential candidates of players who will be available for free in 2025 and are of interest to them.

Thomas Partey on the agenda

As such, Caught Offside reports that Barcelona have taken an interest in the situation of Arsenal midfield enforcer Thomas Partey.

The 31-year-old Ghanaian ace has entered the final year of his contract at the Emirates and will be a free agent next year if he does not renew.

His situation is said to have alerted several top clubs in Europe, with Barcelona understood to be one of the interested parties.

Along with the Catalans, fellow La Liga club and Partey’s former employers, Atletico Madrid, are also said to be interested in re-signing him.

Meanwhile, Juventus too are looking at the 31-year-old Arsenal star as a candidate to reinforce their midfield next year. Two clubs from Saudi Arabia – Al Ahli and Al Hilal are also in the race.

With Arsenal shoring up their midfield department, it is unlikely that Partey will be offered an extension and as such, a Bosman exit seems very much a possibility.

Barcelona director Deco had been pushing to add a more physical midfielder to the ranks this past summer and Partey could fit that requirement, although his injury record poses a major concern.

There is nothing concrete at this moment though and only time will tell whether this initial interest leads to anything substantial next summer.
