Badstuber inspired Kovac to put Schlotterbeck in corner duty

Prior to Mainz’s trip to Signal Iduna Park, Nico Schlotterbeck had never taken a corner-kick in the Bundesliga. However, we’ll surely see him do it again after two of his corners produced goals to Maximilian Beier and Emre Can.

"Daniel Svensson took the corners during the week," said Schlotterbeck after the game. “Since he was unavailable, we had two left-footers in Karim and me. From then, the coach remembered Badstuber, who also did that once as a left-back at Bayern."
