Austin's 2024/25 of big spending continues as they have announced the signing of forward Myrto Uzuni from Spanish outfit Granada on a three-year deal.
The Texas club have reportedly activated Uzuni's $12.3 million release clause, making him the club's latest record-signing. It is the third time in six months that Austin has set a new club-record for a transfer fee.
The Albanian has registered 14 goals and one assist in 18 appearances in the Spanish second division this season, while also bagging 11 goals in LaLiga last season before Granada were relegated.
“Myrto has shown himself to be a prolific goalscorer in every team and league where he has previously played,” said Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell.
“His high work rate during games, finishing ability, ambition, determination, and versatility to be able to play both centrally and in the wide areas will all be big assets. We’re very excited to have him join.”
After spending $7 million to bring in Osman Bukari last summer, and $10 million for USMNT striker Brandon Vazquez this winter, Uzuni's arrival will see Austin boast one of the most expensive forward lines in North America.
