Athletic Club dealt injury blow ahead of Man United tie | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Athletic Club have on Wednesday been dealt a concerning blow on the personnel front.

This comes after star midfielder Oihan Sancet was forced into a premature departure from the club’s most recent outing.

Athletic marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Las Palmas to the Basque Country for a La Liga showdown.

When all was said and done, the evening’s hosts emerged on the right side of a 1-0 result, owing to a solitary strike on the part of Iñaki Williams.

As alluded to above, though, an otherwise positive day’s work for Athletic on Wednesday was soured by an alarming setback on the injury front.

With just 20 minutes on the clock at San Mamés, Oihan Sancet pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular problem, enough to force the midfielder off.

Just a week out from Athletic Club’s Europa League semi-final first-leg meeting with Manchester United, Sancet’s status, in turn, appears to have been thrown up in the air.
