Mark Brus, in his exclusive report for CaughtOffside, has reported that Aston Villa want to sign a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window and have turned their attention towards Samu Aghehowa from Porto. However, the club will definitely face competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, and West Ham United.

Jhon Duran has already left Villa and hence the club are looking for strikers in the transfer market. Aghehowa will be a very good option for the club. He could serve as a perfect alternative for Ollie Watkins and will give Unai Emery more choice in that position.

Samu Aghehowa is a proper handful up top. He is tall, fast, and strong as an ox. He has got that modern striker vibe, mixing brute force with sneaky movement to throw defenders off. At Porto, the striker is banging in goals, showing he has a nose for the net and a cool head under pressure.

For Aston Villa, he’d be a dream. With Jhon Duran gone, they need someone to back up Ollie Watkins, and Samu’s young, hungry energy fits the bill. His aerial power and knack for creating chances would give Unai Emery’s attack a fresh edge, pushing Villa higher up the table.

Will he be a very good signing for the club?

Aghehowa has scored 13 goals in 19 matches so far in the Liga NOS 2024/2025 season. Overall, Aghehowa’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.8. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 16 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.98 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.70.

Looking into his passing aspect of the game, Aghehowa passes the ball roughly 13.63 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 80.28%. He also plays 0.77 key passes each game. Overall, Aghehowa’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.17 per 90 minutes.

Porto now rate him at €50 million. So, it remains to be seen if Villa are ready to spend the amount to sign the striker in the summer. However, he will definitely be a sensational option for the club as a striker.
