Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara this summer in a bid to bolster the engine room.
According to Foot Mercato, ‘Aston Villa wants to get their hands on Sara, a player valued at €20 million.’
Sara is an all-action box-to-box midfielder who will fit the Aston Villa set-up to a tee.
The 26-year-old records 7.63 progressive passes and 2.66 progressive carries per game while completing 1.32 successful take-ons per 90.
The Brazilian registered two goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances for Gala this season and would add a different dynamic to the strong group of midfielders at Villa Park.
Sara has experience playing in England and would not need time to settle in at Villa.
He scored 21 goals and recorded 17 assists in 96 outings for Norwich City. He has been described as a player with ‘an abundance of skills’.
However, it remains unclear where he will fit in at Villa, considering the club already has Ross Barkley, John McGinn, Youri Tielemans, and Amadou Onana on the books.
Except one of them moves this summer, Villa will be better served spending the funds in other pressing areas of the pitch.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray are interested in Aston Villa duo Emiliano Martinez and Lucas Digne. However, it is not a swap deal for Sara.
Villa did not qualify for the UEFA Champions League, and perhaps some clubs see it as an opportunity to pluck their best players.
Martinez has been a stalwart for Aston Villa since he joined the club from Arsenal five years ago.
The Argentine international shot-stopper has made 212 appearances for the Villains, keeping 70 clean sheets.
The Villa goalkeeper is reportedly attracting interest from Manchester United as they look for serious competition for Andre Onana.
Atletico Madrid are also sniffing around Villa left-back Digne. The report mentions that the Frenchman has no interest in leaving the Birmingham club this summer.
