Axel Disasi Finds His Feet at Villa Park

Confidence Restored in the Midlands

Arriving at Aston Villa in the crunch of the winter transfer window, “Axel Disasi could be smiling, joining a club that showed confidence in him.” And that belief has been justified, suggest reports from FootMercato. Disasi, 27, has not only found regular minutes at Villa Park but also reclaimed his natural habitat—central defence. A standout showing against Brentford in March earned him man of the match and cemented his growing importance under Unai Emery.

Champions League Setback No Stumbling Block

His Champions League quarter-final against PSG may have raised eyebrows. Forced to play out of position at right-back, Disasi was “bombarded” and exposed. Yet, Emery’s faith remains: “This has not affected his credibility in the eyes of Unai Emery, his coach, quite the contrary.” That speaks volumes of Disasi’s mindset. The coaching staff are clearly enamoured by his “mentality and dedication to training.”

Clubs on Alert Ahead of Summer Decisions

Villa are said to be exploring a permanent move. “The management’s idea is to keep him after his loan, even though other Premier League clubs are already looking into the matter.” Discussions are underway with the player, with talks with Chelsea to follow after the season ends.

Champions League Race Adds Drama

With Villa pushing for Europe’s elite competition and Chelsea stuttering, this deal could carry bigger implications. “Because Aston Villa is fighting for a place in the Champions League, especially at Chelsea…”

Our View – EPL Index

Axel Disasi’s turnaround in claret and blue feels like a story of timing and trust. There’s a steeliness about him at Villa that we never quite saw at Chelsea. Emery deserves credit for using him properly. That PSG nightmare at right-back wasn’t on the player—it was poor management. You wouldn’t stick Tyrone Mings at right-back, would you?

What excites us is that Disasi has responded like a seasoned pro. The fact he’s “praised by the staff” and that Unai wants him permanently shows he’s won the dressing room. Villa have been smart in the market, and this loan has all the signs of another calculated Emery success.

There’s some concern though—other Premier League clubs circling isn’t something to ignore. We’ve been here before. Lose him, and we’re scrambling for another centre-half. Keep him, and we build from the back for Champions League nights.

Villa are no longer a pit stop—they’re a destination. If Chelsea don’t want him, we’ll have him. Permanently.
